Plants of the Araceae family - The Illustrated Database

Since childhood I've been interested in plants. I began collecting pot plants from the Araceae family in 1996. My first ones were: Zantedeschia aethiopica, Monstera deliciosa and Spathiphyllum 'Mauna Loa'. In 1999 I got my first hardy aroids: Arum italicum 'Pictum' and Arisaema amurense which I planted in my garden. I exchanged plants with other growers, announcing in gardening magazines. Aroids were very hard to obtain. Many of my plants died, some of them I had to give away, because they grew too big.
In 2001 I bought a PC and I began to write these pages. I photographed the plants with an analogue camera and scanned. It was a time-consuming work to fit the images to the page layout. I was visiting shops and garden centres to find new specimens to take photos. I also got permission to publish aroid photos from popular books and magazines.
In 2005 I took the management over the Aroid Identification Center belonging to the International Aroid Society. If you have any unidentified plants from this family, you may send photos to me. If you have good photos of any aroids and if you want me to publish them in Araceum, feel free to submit them.

Best Regards, Marek Argent.
