Lemna minor

It inhabits the inland waters of Northern Hemisphere.
Blooming very rarely, it propagates mainly vegetatively.

The plant covers the surfaces of ponds. It is eaten by fish and water birds.
It consists of one leaf-shaped segment and one root.
Often a few species of Lemnoideae grow together. Here you can see Spirodela polyrhiza (the larger plants) surrounded by Lemna minor.
